Ultralight Training, Sales & Service by Bob Essell
Serving Northeast Ohio & surrounding areas

Bob is very active in the Ultralight community.  He is now a Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor, and a (former) member of the U.S. World Microlight Team.  He began doing airshows in the early 1980s, at first doing flight demonstrations, then moving on to solo aerobatics, and after 4500 hours of flying, added wingwalking in 1990.  Today, he has well over 6000 hours of flying.  Bob and his daughter, Jenny, now comprise the only father-daughter wingwalking act.  See Bob Essell Airshows for more info.

In addition to performing in air shows, Bob Essell is a Flight Instructor (through USUA) and owns and operates Liberty AirSports out of Hiram, Ohio.  Bob is capable of building and servicing a wide variety of ultralight aircraft and sells new UL aircraft from various manufacturers.  From time to time, Bob also has pre-owned aircraft for sale, those will be posted as they become available.  Please use the Training and Sales/Service tabs above to learn more.

Bob grew up in Twinsburg, Ohio, where he learned to fly in the mid 1960s in an Aeronca L-3 with his dad, Albert.  Flying has been a part of the Essell family tradition for a few generations.  Bob's grandfather, Theodore, performed in front of crowds parachuting from hot air balloons.  Theodore also built his own bi-plane which resembled a Curtis.  Albert learned to fly in the early 1950s on the GI Bill and he owned several classic tail-dragger aircraft.

Ultralight Flying!

Ultralight Aircraft are what flying is all about.

The rush of air past an  open cockpit...
wind in your face...
flying by the seat of your pants.

If heaven to you is a crisp, sunny morning at 1500 feet, taking in the fresh air, watching the earth slowly unfold beneath you as you fly over an open countryside... then ultralights are for you!

Trial Instructional Flights are excellent for those who just want to "test the air" or simply go for a ride... a great low-cost way to see if ultralights are for you.
